"Happenings"

I should be asleep, but I thought I should do a quick post.

Last Friday or Saturday night I entered a $5 tournament on CNR. There were 459 players. I did very well, but ended up finishing in 7th place for a $65 pay out. I have been grinding at CNR and I have tripled my bankroll.

I also have been playing at poker time. I played PL Omaha H/L and tripled up on two hands.

I just watched the Astros win in 15 innings. I just wish St. Louis had lost.

I went to the Longhorn game on Saturday. Great seats on the East side near the 15 yard line. Not much of a game, but the lightening was cool. We decided to escape just before the end of the third quarter. I learned several important lessons at this game. Always take more cash than you expect. You can drink at the Texas Exes during half time. If you see them take Bevo off the field it is time for you to consider getting the heck out of Dodge too.

Sunday the U7 Sharks had a soccer game. We were undefeated until this game. I am solely responsible for our 2-1 loss. The boys really hustled and fought back. I did not take control of the game. The other coach was yelling very loudly at the referee. He was arguing that the referee had to blow the whistle to start play. I kept softly saying that is not true. At one point he had totally distracted the referee and we scored a goal. I did not think it was fair that we scored with the referee no paying attention, so I waved off the goal. I thought we would score more, but the other team had a tough defense. After haftime I tried to straighten out the other coach. I should have calmly taken charge early in the game and set the other coach straight. We teach our boys to be quick on kick ins and goal kicks. Regardless the Sharks are a great bunch of boys and hopefully I will do a better job as a coach controlling the referee and other coach. My son took the loss pretty hard, so hopefully there was a lesson learned there somewhere. I can not wait until our game on Saturday. The only negative is our daughter's game is at the exact same time.

Our daughters team U10 REC got screwed. When the schedule came out we were excited because we were going to compete against Academy teams. Well apparently the Academy teams did not like playing Rec teams and they now put us playing U9 teams. Girls are still learning, but it will get old winning 7-0 every time.

Soccer is my life right now!

I still grind away at the poker tables nightly. I am bummed because everytime the Austin bloggers play poker my wife has a dinner club event. Someday I will get to join that fun bunch again.

I am looking forward to November 4. I get to take our son to the Longhorn -vs OSU game. Hopefully he will have a great time and the Horns will still only have one loss. Oh yeah! I found out to late, but there is a Taco Bell in the stadium, so you can get some cheap munchy food!

I am playing in a NL Omaha H/L tournament and this dude goes all-in every hand. I busted him a couple of times, but it is ridiculous.

Oh well! I busted his ass and won $10!

"Stupidest Play ever"

I was playing .05/.10 NL Holdem at Pokertime. I had Q5. I limped in from the small blind. Flop came with Qxx. I bet $.90. I got one caller, then a raise equal half my stack. From my view Pot odds suggested I call, but I decided the correct play was to gamble. I went all in! Both players called. A 5 came on the turn giving me two pair. I liked my chances. I won dragging in an $18 pot. The raiser started calling me names and said "that is the stupidest play I have ever seen!" My only response was "I liked it!"

I really hate it when people call other's names and berate their play. I have had hands stolen from me numerous times by chasers on the river. I do not call them names and question their play. I simply say " nice hand"!

Here is my real reason for posting. I need to join another poker site. I am torn between Bugsy and Full Tilt. Both are giving 100% deposit bonus. Does anyone of my hard core readers (three of you) have a strong opinion? Can I reference anyone to potentially get you some bonus action?

"In the Dog House"

On Saturday night I had a few old friends over for a poker tournament and a cash game. We had ten players buy-in for $10 no limit game. Some of the players had never played a tournament before, so it promised to be interesting. Well the very first hand got interesting.

I was small blind. The strongest player is to my immediate left. Several players limped in an I mucked the small blind. The big blind went all-in. Well he got 2 callers. The BB turns over TT, another player had JJ and the third player A7s. The Jacks held up, eliminating 2 players and tripling up a strong player.

Definitely an interesting start. I bluffed with 52o and won a small pot. I wanted the players to know that I was willing to bluff and I showed my cards. I played very solid after that. I did play one had poorly with an open ended straight draw that never landed. It cost me more than I should have been willing to give up. Another hand I tried eliminating a player by putting him all-in. He hit a pair of nines and doubled up.

I made it down to 4 players. I was holding KQ when the flop came Q74. I immediately went all-in. Player to my left immediately called me turning over AQ. I was out on the bubble. Man I hate going out on the bubble.

I made some bacon-wrapped stuff jalapenos that were a huge success. Thanks Mom for sending me the recipe. I did add a little twist and used pepper bacon. I had to abandon a hand just so I could get a couple of them. I also grilled some fajitas and jalapeno sausage. Other players brought munchies and the tequila was flowing.

We started a cash game. We had 9 players until about 1:00 AM, then 5 us continued. Our 6 year old son got home and he sat down, so we limited the game to Holdem. He played Ok but he was chasing a little bit. He lost all of my winnings so I told him he had to stop and get ready for bed. Of course he took off to his room and I knew he was upset. I brought him back and gave him $5 more. He won a few hands. The party animal stayed with us until about 2:45 AM.

I drove one of the tequila fanatics home. I then cleaned up the house. Now for the dog house part. In the morning my wife noticed a stain on our hand crafted dining room table. Lets just say she was not happy. I am not convinced it happenedd at this party, but she cleans it so she should know better. Now I need to figure out how to fix it. That will be the only way I get out of the dog house.

I have not posted much because I am to busy grinding at the tables. My previous post was of the final image of me winning a tournament with 389 players. I could not believe how much I won. Most of it has been spent on taking the kids to Dave & Busters. Opening savings accounts for the kids, watching the Lady Longhorns beat Penn State in soccer, and sending my wife on a shopping spree. I am hoping to win again. I have finished intot he money one other time and I always manage to make it deep in the tournaments. Despite my success CNR's customer service made me a little mad. It was my mistake, but they were unwilling to work with me. I took most of my money out.

I am now looking for a good bonus and another site to play. Any recommendations would be most appreciated. I am leaning toward Full Tilt Poker. I have an account but have never deposited any money. Hopefully I am still eligible for the 100% bonus.

If anyone needs a bonus please recommend a good site with a favorable buy-in bonus.

I will try to post more often, but soccer season is now in full swing. Hopefully I will get better at multi-tasking and not play three tables at a time.

Party on!
